Just look at those! YUM. We have, left to right, top to bottom: maple with bacon; lemon, maple; chocolate with peanuts, chocolate, and cinnamon sugar. The bacon was unimpressive, but I haven't had such a good maple donut anywhere outside of Oregon!

Duck Donuts
There's a city in North Carolina called Duck. A little donut shop opened its first store there some years ago. They've spread quickly, and the Virginia Beach shop just opened up very recently! Lucky for me, it is between my family's neighborhood and mine, so it was quite convenient to stop in and try their fresh, made-to-order donuts Monday morning!

Ship (Kind Of), Take 2
I got another shot at the ship in Norfolk! I was actually the FIRST one at the light when it turned red...
So you can see it a tiny bit better than you could in the other photo.

TCC Norfolk Mermaid
Piper came with me to work two days in Norfolk this week. Not much exciting going on this time, but we stopped to see the mermaid:

Ship (Kind of)
This is a shot I've tried to get with three LVs now...
On the way home from the Norfolk campus, there's an intersection where, if you have perfect timing with the light and how many cars are stopped in front of you and it's a clear day, you can get a pretty good picture of the ship right in front of you. With Peanut Butter, I had perfect timing but it was such a drizzly, hazy day, it didn't work. With Georgie, I never once had the right timing, despite having at least half a dozen attempts. Yesterday, I didn't have quite perfect timing and I only got one shot at it before the light turned green and I had to go back to being a responsible driver, so it's not a good picture... but maybe I'll be able to try again today.

I know... you don't see a ship. The very top is right over the middle of Piper's head, under the stoplight. Like I said... not a good picture.
Here's another picture that isn't very good:
This is a church right next to MacArthur Mall, taken from the parking garage. I do like that about Norfolk: the old buildings mixed in with the new.

Archery
My bridesmaid's husband made us a bow in our wedding colors, because he's awesome. Today was the first time that weather and our schedules coincided to allow us to go play with it!

Library
In a very unusual set of circumstances, I worked late at the library (as in, after we closed). So of course, before I left, we had to go take a couple photos. Fun fact: the library is EERILY quiet after closing. But it's really only because the air shuts off, and our system is pretty loud (provides great white noise for the computer lab, so if someone is talking quietly, you can barely even hear them).
There will be more library photos, I'm sure, but I didn't have much time. (I was only there at a weird time to go teach a class after our hours.)

Back Again
Still beautiful out... and we went back to the in-laws' house this morning before work, so here we have some more photos:
What will we do next? Who knows!

That tree from yesterday? It sheds. A lot. |
Spring is Sprung
What a gorgeous couple of days we're having here in Virginia Beach! We visited my in-laws' house and had some fun in the backyard:
It's supposed to be another gorgeous day today! Low 70s, sunny... ahhh, so nice after all that snow that Georgie had to put up with.
Beautiful blooming tree! |
On the dock shortly before sunset |
So many oysters! They're good for filtering the Bay. |

Computers
Considering how much of my time is spent at computers on a daily basis, it seemed only appropriate to introduce Piper to my office computer and the laptop at home today.
Hopefully the weather will get a little less wet and gloomy soon and we can have some outdoor fun!
You'll notice several pieces from craft swaps on this desk! |
Helping me play Hearthstone |
Hello, Piper!
Since Georgie, the last LV I hosted, was stolen off of his owner's porch after he was delivered back home, I'm starting over for her with a new LV. Georgie can't be replaced, but this is the best we can do.
Anana (my LV, the pineapple on the left) was a gracious host and told Piper, the new kitty, all about her new owner, blupaisan, since he just spent the winter with her. (The kitty got her name from a little girl at the store who suggested it when she asked me what I was going to name the kitty and I told her I didn't know.)
I just got Piper yesterday, so all we've done so far is work on rearranging my office:
But we'll have some fun adventures soon, especially since the weather is finally nice again (okay, it's rainy and cloudy today, but at least it isn't snow).
